Dulce de consistencia gelatinosa que se obtiene de jugos de fruta filtrados y concentrados con agregado de azúcar o edulcorantes. Algunas jaleas pueden contener gelatina, a fin de obtener una consistencia más firme.

El vocablo español equivale al portugués geleia, al catalán gelea, al francés gelée y al inglés jelly, entre muchas otras lenguas.

Para Covarrubias (1611),  jalea era el “zumo o licor del membrillo o de otra cosa de que se hace la conserva, la cual traban y conservan de modo que queda transparente, y vale tanto como cosa helada, del nombre toscano giallo, por hielo”.

La palabra proviene del francés gelée, y este del italiano gelata, del participio pasivo del verbo gelare ‘helar’.

¿Previene o prevé? ¿Cómo se conjuga el verbo prevenir en la segunda persona del singular?

Son verbos diferentes. Prevenir se conjuga como venir (prevengo, previenes, previene...) y prever, como ver, acentuando donde corresponda (preveo, prevés, prevé...).
