La enciclopedia gratuita en español publicó 100 mil artículos en 10 meses, o sea 300 nuevas publicaciones por día. Wikipedia es una enciclopedia gratuita que nació el año 2001 con el fin de que millones de usuarios de todo el mundo subieran sus propios contenidos. De los 236 idiomas disponibles, Wikipedia en español es la novena edición con mayor número de contenidos.El fundador de Wikipedia.org, James Wales, señala en el sitio principal que este portal es "un esfuerzo para crear y distribuir una enciclopedia libre, de la más alta calidad posible, a cada persona del planeta, en su idioma".Wikipedia en español superó específicamente las 400.147 entradas y le siguen inmediatamente las ediciones en portugués (428.304 artículos) y holandés (479.358), entre otras versiones, según datos de la enciclopedia virtual totalmente gratuita.
