El aspirante a la candidatura presidencial demócrata Bill Richardson y el senador por Connecticut Chris Dodd accedieron a participar en un debate previsto para setiembre, que será realizado en español. Univisión Communications Inc., la cadena en español más grande de Estados Unidos, ha invitado a los aspirantes a la candidatura presidencial demócrata a participar en el debate, previsto para el 9 de setiembre en la Universidad de Miami. El debate sería el primero de su tipo conducido en español. Se realizará con traducción simultánea al inglés para los participantes y los espectadores. Dodd aprendió español en República Dominicana durante su servicio en las Brigadas de la Paz.Richardson, que nació en California y pasó su infancia en México, habla español con fluidez, y es el único gobernador estadounidense de ascendencia hispana.
