El dominio de más de un idioma puede demorar hasta cinco años la aparición de los síntomas del mal de Alzheimer, difundió en Ottawa la revista Neurology en su edición más reciente.Aunque el bilingüismo no previene este tipo de demencia senil, si crea una reserva cognitiva que, al parecer, retarda sus síntomas, hallaron expertos del Instituto Rotman, del centro de investigaciones geriátricas Baycrest, de Toronto, Canadá.El aprendizaje de uno o más idiomas beneficia por más tiempo la salud cerebral, algo que ningún medicamento contra el mal de Alzheimer puede lograr, según los científicos.La enfermedad de Alzheimer provoca pérdida de memoria, trastornos conductuales, dificultades para resolver problemas y del habla.
