MONTEVIDEO, Ago 31 – Un nuevo diccionario etimológico, probablemente el primero que se presenta en la Internet, es la nueva oferta de La Palabra del Idioma Español.El diccionario, calcado de los envíos de la lista de distribución “La palabra del día” ofrece un cruzamiento de informaciones entre las palabras cuya historia se analiza. Así, sabemos que la palabra latina “canis” está en el origen del nombre de las Islas Canarias, que en tiempos de los romanos estaban llenas de perros, pero cuando este hecho se relata en la entrada correspondiente a la palabra “can” un nuevo enlace remite el lector hacia “canario”, el nombre de la canora avecilla que tomó su nombre del archipiélago español.El diccionario es gratuito y está a disposición de cualquier internauta que quiera aventurarse enfilando su proa hacia www.elcastellano.org/palabra.php .
