El sábado pasado, el libro "Las venas abiertas del América Latina", del uruguayo Eduardo Galeano, estaba en el lugar 54.295 del ranking de la librería digital Amazon.com, pero después de que el presidente de Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, se lo regaló a su homólogo estadounidense, Barack Obama, saltó bruscamente al número 2.Un salto impresionante y raras veces visto para un libro tan antiguo como el de Galeano, cuya primera edición fue publicada en 1971: el milagro ocurrió en sólo veinticuatro horas.La edición en inglés en tapa dura ya está registrada como agotada.La obra del escritor y periodista uruguayo documenta cómo los intereses extranjeros han dominado y perjudicado a América Latina desde la conquista, y es un libro de cabecera para buena parte de los izquierdistas latinoamericanos.En el listado de más vendidos de Amazon, Las ventas abiertas es superado sólo por Liberty and Tyranny: a Conservative Manifesto, de Mark R. Levin.
