Google rindió un homenaje a través de un Doodle al traductor mexicano Librado Silva Galeana, experto en la lengua náhuatl que se hablaba en las civilizaciones Azteca y Tolteca en México.

Es conocido por su traducción al español de la colección de historia oral náhuatl del siglo XVI llamada “Huehuetlahtolli: Testimonios de la antigua palabra”, además, otros poemas en la misma lengua.

Nacido en Santa Ana Tlacontenco, Ciudad de México, en 1942, sus padres hablaban náhuatl y le transmitieron el idioma, lo cual generó su conexión por la lingüística y gran parte de su trabajo académico fue para preservar su lengua materna.

En los años setenta, trabajó al lado de profesores de náhuatl para fundar el Círculo Social y Cultural Ignacio Ramírez, que se dedica al estudio de esta lengua.

De igual manera, siguió con el legado del escritor Ignacio Ramírez, al defender lenguas maternas y conocimientos del mundo indígena.

Galeana recibió el Premio Nezahualcóyotl de Lenguas Indígenas del Departamento del Distrito Federal de México en 1994.
