La Unión Romaní, que nuclea a los gitanos de España, pidió este domingo la dimisión del director de la Real Academia Española (RAE), Darío Villanueva, debido a que la próxima edición del diccionario incluirá la acepción de "gitano" como "trapacero", aquel que "con astucia, falsedades y mentiras procura engañar a alguien en algún asunto".

El presidente de la Unión Romaní, Juan de Dios Ramírez, cree que el "empecinamiento" de Darío Villanueva en mantener la definición de gitano como "trapacero" lo descalifica para ser el director de la Real Academia Española.

Si la institución revisa continuamente las palabras ofensivas y, a pesar de las quejas que ha recibido, mantiene la acepción de gitano como "trapacero", es porque la RAE está convencida de que todos los gitanos son "unos delincuentes en potencia", ha apuntado Juan de Dios Ramírez.
