La VanguardiaUna larga senyera y un crespón negro asoman desde hace un par de días tras la vitrina de la librería Les Voltes de Girona, escenario de buena parte de las iniciativas en defensa de la lengua y la cultura catalana que protagonizó el activista cultural Feliu Matamala Teixidor, fallecido el domingo 22 a la edad de 97 años. Las campañas del DNI en catalán, la rotulación comercial que se popularizó con el adhesivo En català, si us plau así como El català, cosa de tots o recogidas de firmas para declarar Girona ciudad antitaurina o para retirar la E de España del vehículo fueron algunas de las iniciativas que se atribuyen a Matamala. Un personaje que, según explica el concejal en el Ayuntamiento de Girona y diputado de Convergencia i Unió Carles Puigdemont, «fue clave para la defensa de la lengua y de la identidad catalana en tiempos difíciles». Una opinión que comparte la alcaldesa de Girona, Anna Pagans: «Personas como Matamala ayudaron a hacer más difícil el papel de la dictadura franquista que aniquilaba la lengua y cualquier rasgo diferencial».
