EFEEl alcalde de Nueva York, Michael Bloomberg, agradeció en español la labor de los pilotos del avión que acuatizó el jueves sobre el río Hudson, con 155 personas a bordo, así como la de quienes colaboraron en las tareas de rescate."Nuestra ciudad da las gracias a todos los que respondieron a esta emergencia", declaró en este idioma."También quiero dar las gracias al piloto y al copiloto, que mostraron una increíble habilidad en esta situación estresante" , apuntó el filántropo y multimillonario, que toma clases de lengua castellana con un profesor colombiano desde hace seis años.En opinión del alcalde, que se ha propuesto hablar un español fluido a mediados de año, "el vuelo 1549 de US Airways tenía un ángel de la guardia".El profesor de español de Bloomberg es Luis Cardozo, un abogado colombiano de 46 años que emigró a Nueva York en 1999.En Nueva York viven casi 2.2 millones de personas de origen hispanoamericano, que suponen el 27% de la población, y el español es una de las seis lenguas más habladas en la Gran Manzana, donde las agencias municipales, por orden de Bloomberg, tienen que atender a las personas que lo requieran en ese idioma.
