Fundéu

Casi dos meses después de haber sido elegido, el pasado 10 de noviembre, como académico de número de la Academia Argentina de Letras, esta semana se oficializó el nombramiento de Alberto Manguel (Buenos Aires 1948) como «académico de número» de la Academia de Letras.

Su carta de aceptación del reconocimiento llegó por correo postal, como indica el protocolo. «Si se demoró fue responsabilidad del correo, estoy libre de culpas», bromea el escritor, divertido, desde el hotel de Nueva York en el que se aloja por estas horas y desde donde dialoga con Clarín. El actual director de la Biblioteca Nacional está en esa ciudad estadounidense para cerrar un acuerdo con la Biblioteca de NY, en vistas de una exposición conjunta que concretarán ambas instituciones.

Tras su retorno a la Argentina, en junio pasado, para ocupar el cargo en la BN (antes vivía en Francia), Manguel fue designado por la AAL para ocupar el sillón Francisco Javier Muñiz. En esa posición lo precedieron Ángel Gallardo, Bernardo A. Houssay, Eduardo González Lanuza y Horacio Armani, y que estaba vacante desde el 2013 tras el fallecimiento de este último.
