  • San o Santo

    Es sabido que cuando se nombra a un santo en general se lo llama, por ejemplo, San Pedro, San Juan, San Alberto, sin embargo existen excepciones como Santo Tomás, Santo Domingo, Santo Antonio. ¿Existe alguna explicación sobre estas excepciones?

    Nuestra respuesta:

    La palabra santo se apocopa en san, excepto ante los nombres propios que comienzan con Do o con To: santo Tomás, santo Toribio, santo Domingo. No es el caso de san Antonio. Observe que san y santo se escriben siempre con minúscula.
