    ¿Qué es exactamente el género común? ¿Cuáles son sus usos? ¿Desde cuándo existe esta figura en nuestra lengua?

    El género de los sustantivos puede ser masculino o femenino. Se habla de nombe de género común o de  nombre común en cuanto al género (denominación generalizada actualmente) a aquel sustantivo o nombre común cuya terminación es invariable para ambos géneros. El género gramatical de dicho sustantivo lo indica otro elemento, a saber, el artículo, adjetivo, ponombre. Así, sustantivos como cantante, pianista, juez, concejal... son comunes en cuanto al género: el/la cantante; pianista famoso/famosa; etc.

    En los diccionarios de la Academia se recoge esta definición desde 1984.

  • Género común

    Es conocido que con la igualdad de género, se menciona en todos los mensajes, discursos, etc., por ejemplo: niños y niñas, etc. ¿Relacionado con los adjetivos, específicamente 'joven' está permitido mencionar 'jóvenes y jóvenas'?

    «Joven», como adjetivo o sustantivo, es de género común, varía solo en número: una mujer joven, un hombre joven, mujeres/hombres jóvenes, el/la joven, los/las jóvenes.
