    Según el Diccionaio de americanismos, la voz durazno (del latín duracĭnus) se emplea en Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panamá, Colombia, Venezuela, Perú, Bolivia, Chile y Argentina. También se emplea en Uruguay. Equivale al melocotón.
