    Estando en una reunión saltó esa palabra y se comentaron diversos orígenes .Necesito saber la etimología de esa palabra. Ya se que hubo una batalla con ese nombre en la cual el general Rivera triunfó. y por eso en su homenaje se puso ese nombre a una importante plaza de Montevideo.Tambien se habla de una batalla naval. Pero una palabra tan conocida por los uruguayos y tan cotidiana se convierte en un misterio definir su origen. Parecería de origen quechua y por otro lado parece español(Latin). Dicho de otro modo, desearía saber si es una palabra compuesta , si deriva de remotos lenguas, cómo se formó,si tiene que ver con nuestro país , si fue una casualidad etc Etimología y significado de "CAGANCHA".     No conocemos el origen del topónimo Cagancha, pero creemos que difícilmente sería quechua.
