    La separación adecuada es por silabeo: ma-rí-ti-mo. Esta palabra no se puede separar por sus componentes porque en castellano no existe el elemento compositivo –ítimo. Todas las palabras terminadas en ítimo provienen directmente del latín: legítimo (de legitĭmus), ilegítimo (de illegitĭmus), marítimo (de maritĭmus).

    Quisiera saber cómo se silabea correctamente la palabra TAHUANTINSUYO. Para mí, es Tahuan-tin-su-yo porque hay un triptongo, o ¿me equivoco?

    Tres vocales forman triptongo cuando siguen la secuencia: vocal cerrada átona + vocal abierta + vocal cerrada átona; averiguáis, vieira, hioides, huaino, etc. La secuencia a(h)ua, vocal cerrada entre dos vocales abiertas, no es, pues, un triptongo. La palabra se separa así: Ta-huan-ti-su-yo.

    Me gustaría saber como se divide en silabas la palabra léxico y la razón por la que se divide de esa manera.

    Se separa: lé-xi-co. Esto se debe a que si la letra x va seguida de vocal, forma sílaba con ella; si va seguida de consonante, forma sílaba con la vocal precedente. Ejemplos examen = e-xa-men; exento = e-xen-to; excéntrico = ex-cén-tri-co; texto = tex-to.
