Deseo saber si es correcto usar en castellano el signo inglés "&" como sinónimo de "y".Gracias.

Respuesta: 

El signo & no tiene origen inglés, pese a que es usado con mucha mayor frecuencia en esa lengua. & proviene de la abreviatura latina de et, que significa 'y'; la e y la t combinadas en un dibujo dieron este signo. Hay gente que lo llama por su nombre inglés «ampersand», que proviene de 'and per se and', pero en español se llama «et». En nuestra lengua se ha relegado su uso a bibliografías, logotipos, monogramas, nombres de empresas. No corresponde emplearlo en textos en lugar de la conjunción «y».
