Me gustaría conocer cuál es el origen de la palabra "damajuana", el recipiente para cinco o diez litros de vino.

En el siglo XVI, los marineros del sur de Francia llamaban en tono humorístico dame-Jeanne a las botellas gruesas que hoy llevan diez o veinte litros, comparándolas con mujeres ventrudas. La palabra apareció por primera vez en francés en 1586, en una obra de René de Laudonnière —el conquistador francés de Florida— y fue empleada en 1601 por Corneille, bajo la forma damejane, equivalentes al catalán damajana y al provenzal damajano.Según Corominas, la Academia incluyó damajuana en su diccionario en 1822 como voz provincial de Andalucía.
