Hace un tiempo, un corrector de estilo me dijo que «sólo las personas PERMITEN; las cosas POSIBILITAN», ¿es eso correcto? ¿Debo usar permitir sólo en aquellos casos que involucran a personas?

Respuesta: 

Disentimos de su corrector. Ambos verbos pueden aplicarse a personas o cosas. Si se consulta el DRAE, por ejemplo, se encuentra como ejemplo de permitir en la acepción 3: 'hacer posible algo': El buen tiempo permitió que se celebrase la cena en el jardín. Y en el Clave (http://clave.smdiccionarios.com/app.php): El ordenador permite trabajar con mayor rapidez. También se encuentran en los corpus de la RAE ejemplos en los que el sujeto del verbo posibilitar es humano.
