Desde hace varios años a esta parte vemos en notas periodísticas la frase «la prendió fuego» refiriéndose a una persona que ha sido víctima de un ataque con fuego. ¿Es correcta esta forma de expresar o referir el hecho?

Respuesta: 

Es incorrecta. La construcción sintáctica es: prender fuego a alguien o algo, siendo ‘alguien’ o ‘algo’ el complemento indirecto de la expresión:  El asesino prendió fuego a su víctima > Le prendió fuego. Emplear el pronombre átono de complemento directo la cuando corresponde el de complemento indirecto le se llama laísmo. Es una práctica común en algunas zonas del centro de España que está censurada en la lengua esmerada.
