Mi pregunta es la siguiente: si puede en el texto del siglo XV el verbo «fallecer» significar ‘caer’ o algo semejante. Me parece que el sentido ‘morir’ no es adecuado en ese contexto. «Y dejóse él ir cuanto el caballo llevarlo pudo y falleció de su golpe y el Doncel del Mar lo hirió con su lanza en el escudo tan fuertemente...», Amadís de Gaula.

Respuesta: 

Note que en el DLE se registran otras acepciones del verbo fallecer que están en desuso: ‘faltar, errar’, ‘caer en una falta’, ‘desistir’, ‘carecer y necesitar de algo’.  En el contexto del enunciado, parece apropiado el de errar: erró de su golpe, o sea, no acertó a dar el golpe.
