Me resulta muy difícil distinguir entre hojear y ojear al escribir . También me ocurre con rallar y rayar.

Respuesta: 
Rallar es desmenuzar algo restregándolo con el rallador: Me dijo que rallara el limón para preparar la torta, pero no encuentro el rallador.
Rayar es hacer rayas (raya es una línea gráfica que se traza sobre una superficie): Se distraía haciendo rayas en el cuaderno y no atendía las explicaciones de la maestra.
Hojear es pasar las hojas de un libro: Hojeaba el libro para ver si tenía ilustraciones.  
​Ojear es​ mirar a alguna parte. Otra acepción es mirar superficialmente un texto. Es particularmente con este significado con el que pueden confundirse ojear y hojear. Dependerá de la intención del emisor la elección del término más adecuado: Hojeaba el libro, pero apenas si le echaba una ojeada.
