Traficantes de realidad

Los periodistas investigan, hurgan y revuelven la realidad, pero su objetivo no es mostrarla a sus lectores sino fabricar un producto industrial apto para el consumo, agradable para los consumidores y satisfactorio para el dueño de la fábrica.

Para demostrar esta tesis, el periodista Marcelo Jelen, corresponsal en Montevideo de la agencia Inter Press Service, escribió su libro "Traficantes de realidad", que recorre la historia de la comunicación, pasando por la Roma imperial, por el imperio macedónico creado por Alejandro Magno y por las tinieblas de la Edad Media hasta nuestros días.

Como en una fascinante crónica a través de los siglos, desfilan en esta obra papas y emperadores, guerreros y religiosos, periodistas y empresarios para componer una tesis que ser o no compartida, pero que ciertamente provoca, estimula el debate y obliga a pensar.
