Pueden ser las dos según el contexto. Como forma exhortativa (orden) cuando el hablante se dirige a un colectivo con el tratamiento de vosotros: Id preparando el examen del mes que viene. Como actividad que hay que realizar dentro de una enumeración de actividades expresadas en infinitivo:1. Buscar bibliografía pertinente. 2. Fijar horario de estudio. 3. Ir preparando el examen del mes que viene.4. Informar a los interesados.
