Consulta: 

En un periódico argentino, El Litoral, de la ciudad de Santa Fe, publican lo siguiente: «El papa ha solicitado que no viajen a Roma y que destinen a caridad el dinero». Mi consulta está en la minúscula utilizada, interpreto que hay un error ya que se refieren a El Papa, lo que define a una persona determinada y convierte el sustantivo en propio, creo que análogamente estaríamos con El Rey o El Presidente.

Respuesta: 

De acuerdo con la normativa vigente (2010) los sustantivos que designan títulos nobiliarios, dignidades y cargos o empleos de cualquier rango, civiles, militares, religiosos, públicos o privados deben escribirse con minúscula inicial porque son nombres comunes, tanto si se usan como genéricos como si mencionan a una persona concreta.
