Quisiera saber cómo se determina el sustantivo ala con el artículo en singular y en plural.

Respuesta: 

En singular: el ala; un ala por comenzar la palabra con /a/ tónica, pero si entre el artículo y el sustantivo se interpone un adjetivo, se usa la forma femenina la, una: la enorme ala; una gran ala. En plural: las alas; unas alas.
