¿Cuál de las dos formas en plural es la correcta: gerontos o gerontes? Puesto que en el DRAE existe la palabra geronto como elemento compositivo de gerontocracia, gerontología. En cambio no aparece la palabra geronte en el DRAE.

Respuesta: 

Aunque el término geronte no está registrado en los diccionarios habituales, es común en medicina, psicología, ciencias sociales y en medios publicitarios. Los corpus de la academia muestran su empleo en más de un documento y su uso se ha extendido no solo dentro de medios especializados, sino en el ámbito periodístico: el geronte/los gerontes.
