He oído decir que la expresión «Juán le pidió a Manuel que renuncie» es incorrecta ya que debería decirse «Juán le pidió a Manuel que renunciara». ¿Es así? ¿Por qué razón lo primero sería incorrecto?

Respuesta: 

Porque la correlación temporal recta cuando el verbo de la oración principal (pedir en este caso) está en pasado, se realiza también en pasado. Note que el nombre Juan es una palabra monosílaba, no debe tildarse.
