Yo quiero saber si desinfesta está bien dicho o solo se puede decir desinfecta o si ambas están bien dichas.

Respuesta: 

Infectar/desinfectar e infestar/desinfestar no significan lo mismo.Infectar (dicho de microorganismos patógenos como virus o bacterias) es «invadir [algo o a alguien]» y «transmitir [a algo o a alguien] microorganismos patógenos»: El virus ha infectado a todos los niños de esa región. Hay que proteger las heridas para evitar que las moscas las infecten.En cambio, infestar (dicho de gran cantidad de individuos de una misma especie) es «invadir [algo o a alguien] en forma de plaga»: Las cucarachas infestaban las calles.
