¿Es correcto para indicar después del lugar de nacimiento de una persona utilizando un acrónimo que termina en punto, utilizar una coma para indicar las fechas de nacimiento y muerte como sería en este caso: Gordon Matta-Clark (EE.UU., 1944-1979)?

Respuesta: 

En primer lugar, digamos que EE. UU. es una abreviatura, que debe escribirse con espacio entre cada una de las expresiones complejas que la constituyen (Estados y Unidos). Los acrónimos son siglas especiales.El ejemplo presentado es correcto si el nacimiento y la muerte han ocurrido en el mismo lugar. La coma está bien empleada. El punto abreviativo no exime de la colocación de cualquier otro signo de puntuación, excepto el punto.
