En el ejemplo puesto sé que lo correcto sería decir: me dijeron que...Sin embargo, quisiera tener una explicación más clara sobre en qué casos es correcto y en qué casos no lo es.

Respuesta: 

La forma práctica de no incurrir en queísmo o en dequeísmo es hacer la pregunta para la respuesta dada.¿Qué me dijeron? Me dijeron que...¿De qué me hablaron? Me hablaron de que...Es decir, solo si la pregunta se introduce con la preposición, corresponde ponerla en la respuesta.
