Me interesa saber si es correcto emplear la palabra reusar para indicar que se está usando algo nuevamente.

Respuesta: 

Dado que el prefijo re- puede indicar repetición, no es inadecuado decir reusar con el sentido de 'usar de nuevo'. Sin embargo, hay que tener en cuenta que, sobre todo en lenguaje juvenil, se observa el uso de carácter enfático de este prefijo (Me reencanta el sombrero que me regalaste, lo reuso. [Me gusta mucho el sombrero que me regalaste, lo uso mucho]).) En ese caso, habrá que considerar si es adecuado de acuerdo con el contexto, es decir, en la jerga de adolescentes en mensajes informales entre ellos puede ser aceptable, pero no en otros registros: carta a un profesor, por ejemplo. El significado de rehusar es 'no querer o no aceptar algo'. Esta palabra proviene del latín refusāre.
