Consulta: 

¿Es correcto decir «construido de madera y hierro», o debe decirse «construido de madera e hierro»?La pregunta es si en este caso debe sustituirse la «y» por una «e» para que no suenen las dos «y» juntas o si por el contrario, al estar la «h» entre ellas, puede dejarse la «y».

Respuesta: 

La conjunción copulativa y toma la forma e delante de palabras que empiezan con el sonido /i/, pero cuando a la i le sigue una vocal con la que forma diptongo, mantiene la forma y.Así, deberá decir: madera y hierro. Sólo se presentarán dudas cuando la sílaba de la palabra que sigue a la conjunción pueda articularse como diptongo o hiato, en cuyo caso dependerá de la pronunciación de cada hablante: molécula y ion (diptongo) o molécula e ión (hiato).
