He oido decir Marta es "mas mayor" que Laura.¿Es esto correcto?¿No debería decirse simplemente Marta es mayor que Laura?Entiendo que se puede decir mas vieja o mas joven, mas grande o mas pequeña...pero no más mayor.Gracias.

Respuesta: 

En general, al comparar las edades de dos personas, lo adecuado es emplear el comparativo 'mayor': «Marta es mayor que Laura». Sin embargo, cuando el adejtivo mayor está usado con los significados de 'de edad avanzada', 'de no poca edad', 'de edad adulta', admite ser modificado por los adverbios más, muy y tan: «Mi tío abuelo Luis es más mayor que mi abuelo, aunque tan mayor no está, todavía puede andar en bicicleta». «Por muy mayor que sea, tiene una mente más lúcida que muchos de los jóvenes a quienes enseña».
