El periodista Daniel Samper Pizano fue designado miembro de número de la Academia Colombiana de la Lengua, de la que ya era miembro Correspondiente.

Samper Pizano (Bogotá, 8 de junio de 1945) fue presentado en la ceremonia por Juan Gustavo Cobo, quien lo definió como un “buen amigo y amante de la lengua española”.

Samper Pizano ocupará la silla P de los miembros de número y durante la ceremonia presentó la disertación 'Quevedo, poeta humorista', en la que resalta el importante legado del autor barroco español, dedicando buena parte de su alocución a la faceta burlesca de Quevedo.

Además, aprovechó para leer algunos de sus poemas, durante la ceremonia, que contó con la presencia de destacadas personalidades como el ex presidente Belisario Betnacur y Jaime Posada, director de la Academia Colombiana de la Lengua.

En el acto, Samper Pizano agradeció el honor de pertenecer a este importante círculo de académicos y pidió que lo pusieran “a trabajar”, pues su interés es contribuir a la lengua española.

Recordó, además,  su amor por España, por el fútbol y por la gente de la Academia que lo había marcado a lo largo de su vida.
