Bogotá, 16 ago (EFE).- Bogotá será proclamada el próximo viernes Capital Mundial del Libro 2007 por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (UNESCO), informaron hoy las autoridades de la capital colombiana.La designación de Bogotá será proclamada oficialmente por la subdirectora general adjunta de la UNESCO, la española Milagros del Corral, ante el alcalde de Bogotá, Luis Eduardo Garzón, en el despacho del gobierno capitalino.La ciudad de Bogotá, de 7 millones de habitantes, fue escogida como Capital Mundial del Libro en reconocimiento a su actividad cultural, en una reunión celebrada en junio pasado en París.Para ello se tuvieron en cuenta las bibliotecas públicas y privadas construidas en Bogotá, el desarrollo de la industria editorial colombiana, el calendario cultural y la campaña "Libro al viento", que promueve la lectura popular en la ciudad.Bogotá fue postulada por varias dependencias culturales estatales y privadas, entre ellas la Secretaría de Educación, la Cámara Colombiana del Libro, la Casa de Poesía Silva, el Instituto Distrital de Cultura y Turismo (IDCT) y la Red de Bibliotecas capitalinas.La UNESCO estudió también las candidaturas presentadas por ciudades de Argentina, Austria, Holanda, Irlanda y Portugal.Anteriormente fueron escogidas como Capital Mundial del Libro Madrid (2001), Alejandría (Egipto, 2002), Nueva Delhi (India,2003), Amberes (Bélgica, 2004), Montreal (Canadá, 2005) y el año entrante será Turín (Italia).
