La abreviatura «inv.» que suele salir en los autodefinidos y supongo que en los diccionarios. Como sust. = sustantivo y f.= femenino.

Respuesta: 

La abreviatura «inv.» puede responder a muchos términos: «invariable», «inventario», «investigación» ... No es como otras abreviaturas que solo corresponden a una palabra: «Vd.»: usted; «Sr.»: señor, etc. Fuera de contexto, es difícil decidirse por una de ellas. Pasa con muchas otras abreviaturas.
