¿Cuál es la diferencia entre usar pretérito e imperfecto? ¿Cómo puedo saber cuando utilizar pretértio o cuándo utilizar imperfecto?

Respuesta: 

Una diferencia es que el pretérito (pretérito perfecto simple/pretérito indefinido) marca una acción perfectiva, completa y acabada, y el pretérito imperfecto, en cambio, describe una acción imperfectiva, prolongada en el tiempo, presenta la situación en su curso. Por ejemplo: Juan cantó una ópera ayer. Juan cantaba óperas en su juventud.
