En el caso de referirnos a un cónyuge femenino, ¿se debe decir la o una cónyuge?, ¿o se trata de un nombre masculino aunque se refiera a un sujeto femenino y, por tanto, siempre se debe decir el o un cónyuge?

Respuesta: 

Se trata de un nombre común en cuanto al género; por consiguiente debe decirse: el/la cónyuge.
