Si la palabra etc. va entre paréntesis y al mismo tiempo se encuentra al final de la oración, ¿he de volver a poner punto? Quiero decir, si por ejemplo tengo esta oración: "La causa de la ansiedad podría ser la situación, ser vivo, lugar o cosa que provoca el miedo intenso (miedo a volar, a algún animal, a las alturas, etc.)" ¿Debo poner un punto después del paréntesis o ya sirve el punto de la abreviatura?

Respuesta: 

Hay que colocar el punto después del paréntesis porque el paréntesis de cierre no cierra el enunciado: ...(miedo a volar, a algún animal, a las alturas, etc.).
