No he visto la palabra en el diccionario de la RAE (aunque sí en otros diccionarios en línea, listada como extranjerismo). Mi duda es si me equivoco al afirmar que debería preferirse la palabra «congelador»; mi razonamiento es que no debe usarse el extranjerismo ya que contamos con una palabra equivalente.

Respuesta: 

La adaptación gráfica propuesta para este extranjerismo es frízer. Sin embargo, parece predominar el uso del extranjerismo crudo, que, de usarse, debe escribirse en cursiva: freezer. Un congelador no es lo mismo que un frízer. El congelador tiene una temperatura entre 0 a 8 °C. En el frízer la temperatura puede llegar a los –18 °C.
