Respuesta: 

Siempre que el artículo vaya pospuesto a las preposiciones de o a y no forme parte de un nombre propio se realizará la contracción:Viaja al (a + el) campo. Viaja a El Salvador. Vengo del (de + el) campo. Vengo de El Salvador.
