Quisiera saber cuál es el origen de la palabra pobrecita, más allá de su diminutivo, aquí en Venezuela la gente la emplea no para describir a una persona que es muy pobre si no como para dar lástima, puede ser que esa persona sea rica desde el punto de vista económico, pero le falta una mano, por ejemplo, entonces la gente dice: Pobrecita, le falta la mano.

Respuesta: 

Responde a la acepción de 'desdichado, infeliz'. El uso de pobre y sus diminutivos con esta acepción data de antiguo. Se encuentra documentada a partir del siglo XVI, según textos consignados en el banco de datos de la RAE. Se registró por primera vez, igualmente con el sentido de 'desdichado, infeli, triste', en el primer diccionario de la Academia, del año 1737.
