¿Es correcto decir «hoy en día»? ¿No sería más correcto decir «en la actualidad/actualmente/ahora», etc.? ¿Y en última instancia también sería correcto decir «hoy en noche»?

Respuesta: 
Sí, lo es, porque hoy en día es una locución adverbial lexicalizada que significa precisamente
‘en la actulidad’, ‘en los días que vivimos’. No significa ‘hoy durante el día, hoy mientras haya claridad’, en oposición a la noche. *Hoy en noche no se puede usar con el mismo sentido de hoy en día porque no ha sido lexicalizada con ningún significado diferente a su original.
Debe usarse con artículo: hoy en la noche ‘hoy por la noche’.
