No sé por qué, pero tengo cierta tendencia a separar PERÍFRASIS, p. ej. en la oración siguiente he separado la perífrasis: «El temor de que regrasara le impedía estar tranquilo». Yo considero que impedía, solo, es el verbo. ¿Qué función tendría estar? ¿Y tranquilo? Yo creo que son C.D. ¿Es correcto separar perífrasis? Si se pudiere hacer, ¿sería recomendable?

Respuesta: 

En primer lugar hay que saber si es o no perífrasis verbal. «Le impedía estar tranquilo» no lo es: el auxiliar o verbo conjugado no ha perdido su significado: 'impedir': en «Tengo que concentrarme en mi trabajo» el verbo «tener» sí lo ha perdido (no se puede además decir «lo tengo»), así como en «Suele llegar tarde al trabajo» («lo suele»). «Le impedía estar tranquilo»; «Se lo impedía»: es una oración compuesta de infinitivo en función de CD. CD: estar tranquilo. Puesto que no es una perífrasis, su análisis de que es CD y de que impedía es el verbo es correcto.
