¿Por qué el Diccionario de la R.A.E. no marca el uso indistinto de las palabras compartimento y compartimiento, a diferencia de otros diccionarios?

Respuesta: 

En el DRAE verá que la entrada «compartimiento» remite a la entrada «compartimento». Esto quiere decir que recoge las dos con el mismo significado y que la preferida por la RAE es la segunda, donde aparece la definición y que no remite a ninguna otra.
