Respuesta: 

En efecto, guapo se aplica habitualmente a personas, la aplicación a cosas es un uso coloquial. Bonito se aplica mayormente a cosas, aunque es frecuente aplicarlo también a personas, en cuyo caso su uso se limita a mujeres y niños.
