¿Cuál es el nombre correecto en español del utensilio o instrumento que se usa para apagar las velas o los cirios? En Colombia la mayoría de las personas lo llaman "apagavelas". ¿Es correcto ese nombre?

Respuesta: 

Sí, es perfectamente correcto. Según la RAE: «apagavelas. m. Instrumento, por lo común de hojalata, en forma de cucurucho, que, fijo en el extremo de una caña o vara, sirve para apagar las velas o cirios colocados en alto.».También puede utilizar «matacandelas».
