¿Me podríais indicar si el uso del gerundio es correcto en el siguiente contexto: En las formas familiares se estudió a 3 hijos de los pacientes, resultando positivo un caso? Entiendo que no porque hay una relación de posterioridad no inmediata con la oración principal. Si es así, ¿qué opciones podría barajar para su sustitución? ¿Cuál de las opciones sería más adecuada teniendo en cuenta que se trata de un artículo científico especializado (biomedicina)?Muchas gracias

Una de las opciones correctas para escribir esta oración es En las formas familiares, se estudió a 3 hijos de los pacientes, y uno de estos estudios arrojó resultado positivo.
