Consulta: 

Con frecuencia escucho, en un noticiero de la televisora, decir al inicio del noticiero, «buena tarde». Es esto correcto? ¿ O debe decirse «buenas tardes» o «buenas noches»?

Respuesta: 
Lo habitual en la fórmula de saludo es el plural buenas tardes/noches. Se trata de un plural expresivo. El saludo es una forma de cortesía y, como tal, depende sobre todo  de factores socioculturales y de la intención de la persona que lo emplea en un determinado contexto.  Usado en singular, el sintagma representa  la expresión de deseo para esa tarde/noche  en particular. No cabe tildarlo de incorrecto, solo entender que se aparta de las formas habituales de cortesía de los grupos sociales de mayor nivel de educación.
